How long is a session?
Sessions last 50 minutes (the first session may be shorter or longer) and the number of sessions can vary depending upon your needs. Many people find somewhere between 6 and 12 sessions is right for them, although it may be more suitable to work on a longer-term basis.
What if I need to cancel?
If you need to cancel your appointment, you can either call or text me, but I will need 24 hours' notice - otherwise you are required to pay for the missed session.
What about confidentiality?
Whatever you discuss in your sessions is confidential. By law, if you disclose details of money-laundering or terrorism, I would have to inform the police. Otherwise, the only time I might break confidentiality is if I believed you were going to harm yourself or someone else and in that situation, I would try to discuss this with you first.
How is the counsellor's work supervised?
I am required to attend regular supervision to ensure that my work with you is safe and in your best interests. You can rest assured that your identity always remains anonymous.
What is the BACP and UKCP?
The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and the UK Council for Psychotherapy are two of the largest governing bodies of counsellors and psychotherapists in the UK. As a BACP member and an accredited member of the UKCP, I have to meet and maintain the highest ethical and professional standards in terms of training and working with you.
